Tibino, Snack House – Foz do Arelho (Caldas da Rainha)

Sun, a terrace, good company and a table with good snacks. We don’t need much to be happy. At “Tibino” restaurant, in Foz do Arelho, we find all this and a lot more.
In this restaurant we eat also with our eyes and besides the quality in the preparation of the various suggestions of the menu, the careful presentation is also a point of honor so that all the flavors protrude and break free in our mouth.

To enjoy this sunny day we sat on the terrace. Unlike many others, in this one we breathed tranquility and silence. The half dozen tables far enough from each other and the delimitation of the space with tall plants and small shrubs make the terrace more discreet and we don’t even notice the road that passes there.
It was difficult to choose from a menu with such interesting suggestions. Finally we chose fried cuttlefish (see photo above), an octopus salad (see photo below) and “pica-pau” (small pieces of pork)(see 3rd photo).
My obsession for fried cuttlefish makes me suspicious to give any opinion whatsoever about this delicacy, but I will do it anyway. They were simply DE-LI-CI-OUS! Cut into small strips and wrapped in a subtle batter was the best way to start the meal.

The octopus salad was also very appetizing. The octopus, very tender and tasty, dipped in olive oil, onion and parsley, quickly disappeared from the platter. We accompanied with pieces of bread lightly bathed in the olive oil that absorbed the flavors of the ingredients.

The “pica-pau” was perhaps the less successful delicacy for our taste. It wasn’t bad, but perhaps too spicy, the strong flavor of the seasoning contrasted with the freshness and simplicity of the other suggestions already tasted.

We finished the meal with a symphony of pleasure. The semi-cold cake of red fruits filled our senses. After some reluctance to “destroy” this magnificent picture, a work of art of colors and flavors, presented to us, we took the undertaking with enthusiasm. With each fork a round of applause in our mouth, a standing ovation of our taste buds, a bow of our senses. The perfect epilogue.

Tibino, located in the center of Foz do Arelho village, not far from the beach and from the walkways, is always a good option to comfort your stomach after a walk or after some moments spent by the sea. Being a small restaurant we advised to go early or book in advance. We will return soon for sure.
