Quinta do Caceiro (Figueira da Foz)
Quinta do Caceiro Restaurant received us at a late hour, on the southern shore of “Lagoa da Vela” (Vela Lagoon), in Bom Sucesso. It was weekend and the room was full, which is always a good sign, after all it was “Sopa da Pedra” (Stone Soup) and Portuguese Stew day.
The landscape of the lagoon calmed down our stomachs as they prepared the table for our group of friends.
In this restaurant you breathe an informal and familiar atmosphere. What really counts is the knowledge and the taste that they put on the table to everyone enjoy.
In this restaurant of Quiaios parish, Figueira da Foz county, you breathe an informal and familiar atmosphere. Both the “doctor” and the “farmer” are well served, or the “judge” or the “servant”. No preconceptions, “labels” or ceremonies and what really counts is the knowledge and the taste that they put on the table to everyone enjoy.
The terrine with our “Sopa da Pedra” (Stone Soup) came quickly. Very rich and with all the aromas of meats and sausages, it was the right “appetizer” for the Portuguese Stew that followed. The platter with delicious meat, potatoes and incredibly tender and appetizing cabbages was the center of attention for a few moments. The few who took the time to serve all of us. The good quality meats melted in the mouth and their juices wrapped the cabbages that disappeared quickly from the platter.
The children, on the other hand, were delighted with a very succulent “picanha” (Filet Steak) accompanied with french fries.
Because we arrived too late, the Portuguese Stew has a small variety of meats, but for the next time we must arrive sooner or make reservation in advance. In resume, we all leave satisfied with this meal of flavors so “homemade” and Portuguese.
