Profresco – Fish Market & Restaurant (Peniche)
We found on the “Estrada Marginal Norte” (North Shore Road) in Peniche a different concept than usual. On one side of the building is a fish market where fresh fish and seafood coexist side by side on ice-covered marble benches. On the other side a restaurant with a contemporary decor and a appealing and delicious menu as we would prove.
The day was very foggy, and on a morning walk along the marginal north of Peniche, we hardly saw the sea. So we plan to go early to the restaurant to make a reservation. Unfortunately they don’t reserve and advised us to go early to have an available table. It was Saturday and they were expecting full house.
A different concept than usual.
So we did and before 1:00 pm we got to lunch. In fact the interior room was almost full, leaving only two or three free tables. It’s impossible to stay on the terrace because of the cold weather.
We began with a whelks salad to entertain the stomach while Maria eats a vegetable cream with pleasure. The salad was well seasoned and the whelks very tender which is not always easy to find.
We continued with fried cuttlefish with chips and garlic sauce (pictured below) and a mixed of fried fish with tomato rice and salad (pictured above). The fish, thin and crunchy, were delicious.
The whelks salad for entry was a great choice to start the meal.
For desert we opted for chocolate salami but the red fruit cheesecake looked delicious. We will taste it for the next opportunity.
With quality in the preparation and prices in account is a restaurant to consider on the return to Peniche.
And to return home we can always bring a fresh seafood for a snack.
The unpleasant weather didn’t allow us to stay on the terrace.
Definitely a restaurant to repeat.
