Stroll the Douro’s margins, go through Gaia’s quay, across D. Luis I Bridge and embroiled me in Porto`s riverside are more than enough reasons to increase my appetite for lunch. Being in this region, the obvious choice would be a regional dish, perhaps the best known together with “Tripas à Moda do Porto”. I speak of the delicious “Francesinha”, of course.
In a modern space on the riverfront, named Ar de Rio, next to Gaia’s quay and where glass walls allows a greater complicity with Douro, I found a “Francesinha” that filled my palate.

Being in this region, the obvious choice would be a regional dish, perhaps the best known together with “Tripas à Moda do Porto”.

Over the meat, cheese, bread and egg was a well seasoned and velvety sauce, the biggest secret of this dish along with the quality of the meat. Served with or without fries, depends on the taste of each, I chose to include them (see photo above) as an accompaniment.
At the table, the stunning scenery of Porto accompany each forkful (see photo below) and the plate was clean at a glance.
All this adding to the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff makes this a place to come back soon.
