Florbela Espanca Restaurant (Vila Viçosa)

In the heart of the historic town of Vila Viçosa, known as the “Princess of Alentejo,” we discovered Restaurante Florbela Espanca—a true haven for lovers of homemade flavors and Alentejan culture. This charming spot, inspired by the renowned poetess who lends it her name, masterfully blends tradition and authentic flavors that captivate visitors.
The restaurant features a simple yet cozy indoor dining room, where the décor pays tribute to the poetess with details that evoke her life and work. It also highlights Vila Viçosa’s heritage with evocative photographs of its rich history. Additionally, there is a small outdoor terrace, where we chose to sit and enjoy the sunny day.
The Menu: Homemade and Traditional Flavors
Florbela Espanca’s kitchen is a celebration of regional flavors, offering traditional dishes prepared with exceptional care. Choosing from the menu was no easy task, but since we had already enjoyed several meals featuring Carne do Alguidar, Migas, and Açordas, we decided to try Lagartos de Porco Preto (grilled black pork strips) and Tiras de Lulas Panadas (crispy fried squid strips). We absolutely loved it!

If you’re on holiday or just passing through Vila Viçosa, take a break and be sure to visit Florbela Espanca Restaurant. You won’t be disappointed!
