Our destination today was Piodão, but on the way, we decided to make a stop and discover one of Arganil’s hidden gems: the breathtaking Côja River Beach!

The gray day didn’t encourage swimming, but our desire to explore this river beach was strong. As we arrived in Côja, we parked near the Volunteer Fire Department. Little did we know the treasure that would unfold before our eyes.

A peaceful paradise that captivates all the senses.

It was early, and the beach was practically deserted. In a serene atmosphere, the gentle breeze mingled with the singing of birds and the murmur of crystal-clear waters. At Côja River Beach, we discovered a peaceful paradise that captivates all the senses, a charming refuge nestled in the heart of Arganil municipality.

Despite the chilly early morning, this idyllic setting invited us to take a refreshing dive into the clear and invigorating waters. The children wasted no time and soon found themselves waist-deep in the water.

Côja River Beach is an oasis of freshness on hot summer days, where the magic of nature blends with the serenity of the calm waters of the Alva River. Feel the sun gently kiss your skin and let yourself be carried away by the pleasure of relaxing in the shade of willow trees, poplars, and small willows, or under the various straw hats available on-site.

Here, harmony is ever-present. The sounds of nature serve as the perfect soundtrack for moments of contemplation and relaxation. Lie down on the sand and close your eyes while the murmur of the Alva River waters soothes the mind and recharges your batteries. Take the opportunity to read a book, savor a picnic with family and friends, or simply appreciate the beauty of the surrounding landscape. If you’re up for a more challenging activity, you can always embark on a hiking trail in the municipality, but be cautious of the summer heat.

And if you didn’t have time to prepare a picnic, like in our case, you always have the opportunity to savor the rich regional cuisine at Lagar do Alva, just climb the stairs next to the dam.

Côja River Beach is an irresistible invitation to leave your worries behind, allow yourself to disconnect from the world, and embrace the simplicity and beauty of nature. Enjoy every moment in this enchanting refuge, where time seems to slow down and worries fade away.

But unfortunately, time didn’t stand still, and after lunch, we continued to Arganil where we would spend the weekend.
