After a morning exploring the historic center of Alcobaça and discovering the iconic Monastery – a UNESCO World Heritage Site and the heart of the city – it was time for lunch. The choice was simple: we wanted something practical, affordable, and close to the Monastery so we could continue exploring the city without losing much time. That’s how we ended up at the restaurant “A Casa.”

Strategically located right in front of the Alcobaça Monastery, “A Casa” is a convenient option for those looking for a quick and comfortable meal without straying far from the city center. The restaurant’s atmosphere is simple and casual, with a menu focused on traditional Portuguese flavors, perfect for a relaxed lunch.

We chose to sit on the terrace to enjoy the sun shining in the sky and warming our bodies. To soothe the soul, we ordered Lulas à Lagareiro, Grilled Sardines, and Spaghetti Bolognese for the kids.
The squid was delicious, tender, and wonderfully flavorful, served with smashed potatoes and peppers, all generously drizzled with olive oil.

The sardines, on the other hand, were a bit dry, but the Spaghetti Bolognese disappeared in no time.

Especially due to its proximity to the Monastery and ease of access, “A Casa” is a spot worth considering. It’s a great place to recharge your energy and continue exploring everything Alcobaça has to offer.
